HIV/AIDS has caused the preventable deaths of millions of people. Humanity's failure to halt the pandemic and to provide care for affected individuals and communities is an affront to human dignity.
Vision: Equitable access to HIV/AIDS-related prevention, treatment and care is available to all regardless of wealth, gender or geography.
Mission: To increase access to effective HIV/AIDS-related prevention, treatment and care in resource-limited settings by developing and disseminating solutions that harness the power of community.
Dignitas International was founded and is led by Dr. James Orbinski and James Fraser, both formerly of Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF/Doctors Without Borders). Dr. Orbinski accepted the 1999 Nobel Peace Prize as International President of MSF, and has been appointed an Officer of the Order of Canada.

Dignitas achieves its mission through the following three pillars:
1) Implement community-based and comprehensive HIV/AIDS-related prevention, treatment and care programming.
2) Translate knowledge developed through operations research to refine community-based approaches and maximize program effectiveness.
3) Actively disseminate research and knowledge translation outcomes to improve and increase the international response to HIV/AIDS.
Dignitas International currently works with local and national health institutions in Malawi to increase access to HIV/AIDS-related prevention, treatment, care and support through ongoing training, support and direct service provision.
