Youth involvement and participation is a key component to our mission to develop an enlightened and engaged citizenry.
In one of our curricular programs, Project Citizen, students, or members of youth organizations, work cooperatively to identify a public policy problem in their community. They then research the problem, evaluate alternative solutions, develop their own solution and create a political action plan to enlist local or state authorities to adopt their proposed policy. The Center believes that empowering youth to bring about social change is integral to a well-functioning democracy.
