Roots of Hope, a nonprofit focused on empowering youth in Cuba, has launched Cell Phones for Cuba (C4C), a program designed to boost the connectivity of young people on the island and promote greater communication throughout Cuba. The apolitical campaign will draw on our wide network of students and young professionals throughout the United States to bring about measurable improvements in the lives of Cuban youth.

What does the organization do?
C4C works with high schools, universities, public and private organizations, and groups. We collect cellular telephones and sell them to Ecophones, a company which recycles them and writes C4C a check for the proceeds. We then purchase Cuba-capable phones and send them to youth on the island.
Opportunities for Youth
Raices de Esperanza, Inc. is a 100% volunteer, youth-run organization. Following suit, Cell Phones for Cuba appeals mostly to students and young professionals across the United States and abroad. Raices organizes an annual conference as well as a summer reunion for members or any young people...
