The Canadian Red Cross helps those who need it most. In 1909, the Federal Government passed the Canadian Red Cross Society Act, which legally established the Red Cross as the corporate body responsible for providing volunteer aid in accordance with the Geneva Conventions. Our mission is to improve the lives of vulnerable people by mobilizing the power of humanity in Canada and around the world. We provide a wide range of assistance to millions of people in Canada through our national Disaster Services program and our injury prevention services (such as Water Safety and First Aid) and through community outreach programs. We also help the world’s most vulnerable populations—victims of armed conflicts and communities destroyed by devastating disasters—through our international programs.

The Youth TAP (Training in Action Program) of the Canadian Red Cross in the Lower Mainland works actively and successfully with youth, teachers, and youth leaders around critical contemporary global issues. We provide youth with workshops, events, training, materials and mentoring to increase knowledge, develop empathy, and acquire skills to become a catalyst for personal action and involvement.
RespectED is a leader in delivering violence and abuse prevention education. Now youth can take ownership of the issue through "Beyond the Hurt," a peer-facilitated bullying prevention program. Participation provides an opportunity for youth to build skills and create positive change in their schools and community.
