The Canadian Breast Cancer is the leading national volunteer-based organization dedicated to created a future without breast cancer. The foundation fulfils its mission by funding breast cancer research, community projects and other initiatives across Canada. The Foundation prioritizes fundig to projects with the greatest relevance and potential impact in addressing the issue of breast cancer. Since 2000, the Foundation has allocated more than $12 million in the Prairies/NWT Region alone to support breast cancer projects.

- developing new treatments, like those used to overcome patient resistance to current therapies
- promoting quality of life for surivors through community programs and grants in urban and rural communities.

The Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation Prairies/NWT Region recognized that young people could make a significant contribution and have developed a Youth Advisory Council as a volunteer committee to provide a youth perspective on issues pertaining to fundraising, awareness, education and research.
The aims of the Youth Advisory Council are to introduce and involve youth, focusing on philanthropy, volunteerism and awareness of the importance of giving back to the community from a young age; mentor future leaders; provide references for future employment opportunities; build relationships; provide opportunity to learn about a non-profit organization; build public speaking and presentation skills and develop new product ideas and procedures.
