There are several reasons why the network became so big, but also what makes it so different
More than 1500 young people are members of the network, which makes one of the biggest youth networks in the country;
Blue Sky started as an initiative of the British Council Macedonia in 2002, but today the network is independent youth organisation.
Blue Sky has an exclusive partnership with the British Council Macedonia in implementing youth projects, such as Values Quest, which feeds in the regional British Council project Youth, Sport, Action!;
Blue Sky has a unique structure answering the needs of the youth at local level. It has 31 local clubs in Macedonia, meaning that there is a Blue Sky local club in every town in Macedonia;
Beside the local clubs that focus on high school students, there is a Blue Sky Uni club, which reflects the needs of the university students. Have a look at the promotion of our last project EMI (Electronic Music Innovation), initiated and coordinated by a member of the BS Uni club;
The network takes initiatives in every field in the society. Currently, the local clubs are working on many projects. In December 2006, for instance, thirteen small projects were initiated;
Blue Sky annually organizes one of the biggest summer schools in the region, gathering around 120 young enthusiasts from the country, the UK and the region. It is ten days of intense and very creative programme, brought to the participants by eminent professionals from Macedonia and the UK in different areas, such as music, drama, sport, literature, active citizenship, entrepreneurship, and problem solving. More than 850 people have attended our five summer schools so far.
The British Council Albania followed the sample of Blue Sky in setting a youth network in Albania. Today both networks work in promoting the youth voice through innovative approaches;
Many successful youth projects have started and developed as Blue Sky projects, such as the Macedonian Committee of the European Youth Parliament, Crea8ive8 and the Urban Arts Festival.
