Our mission is to provide the best home we can for the animals in our care and to reduce the number of cats that suffer the fate of abuse, abandonment or extinction by teaching people about the plight of the cats, both in the wild and in captivity, and how they can help through their behavior and support of better laws to protect the cats.

Our AdvoCats are people of all ages from all around the world who share the plight of the big cats through their art, music, slideshows, movies, games and other creative methods. Most of the people who started Big Cat Rescue in 1992 were teenagers at the time and our volunteer workforce is primarily made up of 18-25 year old females. We only have 7 paid staff and more than 100 volunteers who provide the daily and lifetime care for the 100+ cats at the sanctuary.
