AFDAG, which is non-profit youth organization, was established on May 15, 1990, with the aims listed below:
1. To search, collect and perform folk dances, folk music and folk theatre with their specific characteristics.
2. To keep alive and to strengthen peace, friendship, tolerance and love among people,
3. To create new areas for people where they can socially improve themselves and realise their talents.
4. To examine our traditions and customs, interpret them with the necessities of modern life style and transfer them in the right and best way to the next generations.
In order to realise these aims, a few sub-units (The Folk Dance Unit, The Research Unit, The Costume Unit, The Music Unit) were formed in its establishment. One year later, The Photography Unit was added to these units and by the years, new units have been added. Now, the club has 9 units and the responsibility of an international festival.
After being a registered Youth Club in 2001 by the General Directorate of Youth and Sport (GDYS), The club has had oppurtunity to organize exchange programs and to know about implementations of such programs and projects with the training courses organized by GDYS and European Council.
