Social development through programmes in the community where individuals and groups are profoundly engaged on a physical, intellectual and emotional level. The goal being to generate awareness and the ability to implement practical and positive changes in individual’s lives and the community.
We adhere to Paulo Friere’s belief of “swimming in the cultural waters of the people” working from within the community and using their own life experiences to guide sustainable development.

We provide strategies and support for grass roots organizations, in Canada and abroad, who want to use drama, participatory processes and forum theatre methodologies to aid sustainable, community development.
We work with health and educational organisations to develop and implement projects, workshops, activities and performances. We plan and implement structured training to members of local communities focussed on workshop facilitation and participatory performance.
We have partnered on projects addressing local concerns and aspirations through applied theatre, psychosocial methods and community art, resulting in cultural dialogue, skill development and social transformation. Our transformative learning workshops use participatory theatre practices to reflect social realities and provide a forum for personal development and community empowerment.

Youth were the driving force behind establishing the Zisize Drama Project in Ingwavuma, rural South Africa. Their workshop, presented in Zulu have been an inspiration.
The school workshops seek to empower youth and help them to engage with the issues around them. It should be noted that, our work sees youth as part of the community fabric, rather than a separate entity and we also run workshops with parent/carers.
We hope to set-up youth-led organizations in the future who can contribute to development projects and facilitate community arts events.
