Aboriginal Sports and Recreation Association of BC (ASRA) is the recognized multi-sport umbrella organization providing leadership, guidance and support to the Aboriginal people of British Columbia through opportunities in sport, physical activities and recreation.
Our goal is to strengthen and encourage the physical, mental, cultural, emotional and spiritual aspects of community and individual life, by creating opportunities for success at every level. We support the incredible effort of Aboriginal athletes to compete, endure and excel by:
- recognizing and encouraging the pursuit of excellence and achievement in sport that cultivates a healthy, addiction-free, active lifestyle
- advocating for access and equal opportunity in sport, physical activities and recreation
- offering opportunities for personal and professional leadership development for the delivery of sport, physical activities and recreation programs

ASRA fosters youth leadership and the adoption of a healthy, active, addiction free and positive lifestyles through involvement in summer and winter sports.
With an emphasis on participation, excellence, capacity and enthusiasm, we offer programs to improve the quality of life and sport experiences for BC’s Aboriginal people. Programs in leadership, coaching development, athlete development prepare members for involvement in both grassroots and high-performance events, including the North American Indigenous Games, the National Aboriginal Hockey Championships, Talent Identification Camps, sport leagues and tournaments.
We aim to create a supportive environment in our programs that recognizes the unique needs of Aboriginal people and encourages sharing skills and traditions to benefit all participants. Through these programs, Aboriginal athletes and coaches have the opportunity to develop a healthy lifestyle, build confidence and achieve their desired level of excellence.

ASRA YOUTH COUNCIL
The Aboriginal Youth in Action Council is an advisory group run for and by Aboriginal youth leaders aged 13 to 24 years old.
The Council is responsible for making strategic decisions and implementing programs and policies to address the current and future needs of Aboriginal Youth in health education, sport, physical activity and recreation.
