Fobet operates mainly in the following areas:

• water/sanitation and health education: we assist in the development of appropriate water and sanitation systems, to improve the health standards and productivity levels of the rural folks. we also undertake extensive health education as well as the organization and training of community health education committees and water and sanitation development boards. awareness creation on nutrition, health and environmental issues in schools and communities to ensure healthier and cleaner environments, are also carried out.

• population and reproductive health: fobet assists societies, communities, schools, organizations etc. to respond to the hiv/aids menace. emphasis is placed on adolescent reproductive health education and helping to build their self-esteem, through pla methods as well as through drama and puppetry and video shows.

• women and gender development: we facilitate the effective participation of women in decision-making. awareness is created for the effective participation of women in development projects and for women to assist in managing business at community level.

• capacity building of rural institutions/cbos: fobet has for the past five years been involved in its small way to improve on the capacity of certain district assemblies, and community based organisations. some cbos in greater accra, volta and central regions have benefited from free educational talks as well as tree planting exercises, health education film shows and talks on hiv/aids menace. some schools have also benefited from recreational equipment such as footballs and indoor games. some district assemblies staff in our areas of operation have also benefited from computer lessons free of charge from fobet.
