Tekdi is a community working towards promoting greener living. Currently we are working in the city of Pune, India and we wish to spread the movement across the world. The idea is to involve people directly by making them work towards conservation of a city's natural resources. This may be in easier forms like plantation drives, finding means of controlling pollution, conducting awareness programs and the like. Or one may think of totally novel ideas like building water fuelled cars and solar powered houses. We also organize regular trekking excursions, since we think that this is one big way to get people up and close with nature.

We are also working towards development and conservation of urban eco systems and are especially active in the field of sustainable development through activities like soil conservation, rain water harvesting, forestation and the like. Tekdi also promotes development of eco friendly technologies...

We are also working towards development and conservation of urban eco systems and are especially active in the field of sustainable development through activities like soil conservation, rain water harvesting, forestation and the like. Tekdi also promotes development of eco friendly technologies and encourages budding ecologists through educational and awareness programs.

We played an instrumental role in saving the hill tops and hill slopes in and around Pune by thwarting the development plan which threatened to convert the green spaces of Pune into concrete jungles.

Our current activities include:
1. Conservation projects at the Law College and
Chatushrungi hills in Pune
2. Restoration of indigenous species of trees
3. Documentation of flora and fauna in the Sahyadris
4. Providing a global platform for exchange of information
relating to the environment, through the Eco Portal.
