The "GNRC" is the Global Network of Religions for Children, a network of religious people who are working for the well-being of children around the world. The GNRC was inaugurated by the Arigatou Foundation, with cooperation from the Japan Committee for UNICEF and the World Conference on Religion and Peace (WCRP) Japan Committee on the occasion of its First Forum in May 2000.
Nearly 300 men and women representing 7 religions gathered from 33 countries and regions at the First Forum to share their experiences and exchange views on how to address the various challenges facing children. Summarizing their discussions, the participants adopted a GNRC Statement with four Study Group Reports and issued it to the world as their pledge to the future of children.
The GNRC is supported by the Arigatou Foundation, which provides a venue for information exchange including this website to facilitate cooperation among religious people working for children, and also to promote cooperation between religious people and non-religious organizations and individuals. It is hoped that cooperation through the GNRC will add a new, spiritual dimension to the shared vision of creating a better environment for children in the 21st century, making a significant contribution to the global movement for children toward that end.
