Networking professionals and skilled members of the public with paid contracts, ASTRO aims to provide these people with income and also raise money for research into helping needy aspects of the world. ASTRO is concerned with sustainable development (e.g. distribution of resources in the world), disease, ICT, anything you can think of - all the things young people want to help make better, but most adults try block out of their lives.
ASTRO was started by Jared Broad (Bachelor Of Engineering at The University Of Auckland) as a 15 year old...he's second year now I think... It is slowly expanding, having completed several contracts already. In fact, Jared has completed most of these contracts, donating almost all of the profits to ASTRO's research fund. Today, ASTRO has 86 members worldwide, with the aim of reaching 300 by the end of the year.
I am hoping that you guys will take some time to look at www.astro.org.nz and take a look at what it aims to do. If you want to, please sign up. You are not obliged to do anything, in fact, it's
free. But you can keep up to date with what is happening in the world and if one day you feel inclined to do so, join in with the people there to help SAVE THE WORLD! Any skills you have will help. It doesn't matter what it is and it doesn't matter what age you are or where in the world you are.

So I don't know, you might end up being paid by ASTRO to do medical research...or maybe through ASTRO, you can meet other Doctors or other professionals who also want to travel around the world to help the needy.
