The British Council is the United Kingdom's international organisation for educational and cultural relations. Our purpose is to enhance the UK's reputation in the world as a valued partner.
We do this by creating opportunity for people worldwide with programmes in education, English language teaching, the arts, science, governance and information through a network of 243 offices and teaching centres in 110 countries.
We receive a grant-in-aid from the Foreign & Commonwealth Office (FCO) and we earn income from teaching English, conducting British examinations and managing development and training contracts
