The youth workshops in the city of Oulu have been gathered together into the workshop project. The workshop project have been coordinated by the Youth affairs centre in Oulu. The aims of project have been to assist the integration of young people into educational and working life and to prevent exclusion and also to help young people to take control of their life. The target group for workshops are unemployed young people under 25-years old, which don't have any vocational qualifications or they may have qualification but no work experience. The workshop period is usually six months. The period includes work (learning by doing-method), training in small enterprises and short courses e.g. first-aid and ADP skills. Young people, who have not completed comprehensive school, have possibility to finish their education. In workshops young people can practise their skills in handicrafts, cooking, construction, recycling, woodwork and carpentry, car repairing, office-work and art and media etc. In most workshops they do products for customers. Workshops have tutorial services, guidance and healthcare services.
