Non-profit organisation ÖÖKULL (OWL) has its origins in the crime prevention project for street children volunteer organisation within the Öökull volunteers association. The purpose of the non-profit organisation Öökull is to assist children (6-18 years) who have lost their home, family and secure environment for growth. The tasks of non-profit organisation Öökull are: * To keep children away from a criminal environment and street life * To solve children´s problems in safe manner * To prepare children to be able to cope as adults * To support children´s individual development * To promote education and healthy lifestyles in Tartu city and county. Areas covered by NGO Öökull: * Sport and military camps * Work and recreational camps * Excursions * Hikes * Discos * Street work * Friendship meetings with other youth organisation * Training programs for volunteer adults and school-age adolescents * Self-help groups for parents in risk groups * The organisation of information days * The organisation of charity events * The teaching of social skills to adolescents with special needs. Most of the activities of the NGO Öökull are organise at the Children´s and Adolescents Centre Öökull. The rooms are for free-time activities for children adolescents in risk groups: * Film-watching * Cooking * Handicrafts and fine arts activities * The celebration of statutory holidays. NGO Öökull is financed trough small projects, the workers are volunteers. The main age of volunteers is under 25. NGO Öökull is a base for practice for the students of Tartu University.
