All over the world, in groundbreaking ways and often at great personal risk, young people with passion, commitment, creativity and leadership are taking a stand for human rights and social justice in their communities. The needs of young human rights activists are often not a priority or are not visible in existing international human rights and development organizations. Young advocates bring innovative ideas, commitment to and thorough knowledge of their communities, and the energy to challenge institutions, but often do not have the training, support, funding, or contacts necessary to implement successful projects. Many work in isolated conditions, without the security of peer support or a connection to the international community to reinforce and amplify their work. FOREFRONT was formed to respond to the needs of these young activists.

FOREFRONT is an international advocacy and support network serving leading young human rights activists. FOREFRONT strengthens the work of grassroots human rights advocates by facilitating the exchange of information, skills, and technology and providing technical assistance. The network is comprised of 60 leaders, ages 17-40, working in 26 countries and representing nearly 50 non-governmental organizations.
