SOFTEC society serves the following objectives:

A forum for facilitating the exchange of state of the art technology among people belonging to the field of computer science and information technology.

Of late the event has become a source of erudition and learning for laypeople and specialists alike.

A platform for creative ideas and innovations.

Creating a sense of competition and enthusiasm among the participants.

Encouraging and promoting the process of software development.

A source of inspiration and motivation for the new generation.

SOFTEC has made its vision all embracing, to face the challenges of the 21st century, to keep abreast of the changing technologies, and to increase awareness among the new generation and general population.

We have expanded our vision, in our efforts to increase awareness regarding IT. We are introducing two new events: TechNext - focusing on exhibiting cutting-edge technologies, and Kids Corner - highlighting learning through play.

The new millennium is witnessing an explosion of new technologies which will have a profound effect on the quality of life., patterns of employment, methods of generating wealth, inventing drugs, treating diseases and even replicating life itself.

For sheer economic survival, Pakistan will have to develop extraordinary foresight to actively and aggressively seek opportunities to bring new and cutting edge technologies within the orbits of their pursuits.

Having realized the need of the hour, the government of Pakistan is facilitating the process of IT development. SOFTEC 2004 is one step in this direction. With a bigger picture in mind, we at SOFTEC are Paving the Way to IT Literacy. SOFTEC 2004, with its rich heritage is going to be held not just as an event but as a landmark in the history of IT development in Pakistan.

In the year 1995, the students of NUCES-FAST Lahore laid the foundation of the largest student body, SOFTEC - SOFTware Exhibition and Competition, to provide an outlet for the ingenious and innovative brains and a platform to facilitate the exchange of information, ideas and opinions related to the field of information technology.

For the last eight years, SOFTEC Society has been organizing one of the major information technology events in Pakistan. Each successive event has witnessed the increasing number of visitors and contribution of SOFTEC towards promotion of IT in the country.

Students from all over Pakistan compete in the Software, Dynamic Programming and Ideas Xtreme competitions and leading Software Houses, Internet Service Providers and Hardware Vendors exhibit their state of the art architectures and cutting-edge technology.

This year more than 40,000 visitors are expected to witness this grand extravaganza as compared to around 25,000 people last year.

The SOFTEC Society is the largest student body at NUCES-FAST, Lahore. It has more than 200 active members, working the year round to make this event a huge success. The team members function in a coordinated fashion to make the big picture. Their teamwork and enthusiastic efforts are one of the major contributors towards making SOFTEC reach higher standards of performance each year.

The All Pakistan SOFTware Exhibition and Competition, envisages the fact that building something new is important, but conveying it to others is equally significant. SOFTEC brings a platform for fertile minds to share and communicate their ideas in a knowledge rich environment. It leads to improvement of ideas through public display and feedback. The event also helps increase public awareness about IT.
