The YES-Kenya vision is to facilitate the employment of youth so that they can realize their full potential as individuals and collectively as members of the society through economic, political and social action. YES-Kenya sees a society in which young people are key contributors to the wellbeing and sustainable development of the societies and cultures in which they live and of the global community as a whole.

In 2003 the network has been involved in a number of projects and initiatives some of which are outlined below:
Kenya national youth policy development process: YES-Kenya became a key stakeholder in this govt-led process and its members gave valuable input that has been recognized by other stakeholders. The policy, which is in its final stages, addresses the question of youth unemployment.
Road map to youth employment in Kenya: YES-Kenya is a key participant in a roundtable of stakeholders including the Kenyan Ministry of Labor and various civil society actors who will develop a road map to attaining employment for most young Kenyans. This dialogue will involve discussion on the following aspects as they relate to youth employment:
• Employment policy harmonization
• Stakeholder linkages and partnerships
• Capacity building
• Investment and entrepreneurship
• Resource mobilization
Participation in workshops and other meetings: As part of its outreach programme, YES-Kenya has facilitated the participation of its members in local and international meetings as a capacity building and advocacy strategy.
These initiatives have been rooted in the underlying philosophy that the problem of youth unemployment is not an intractable one and that solutions initiated by and involving the young are in the long run much more sustainable.
