Association for Human Development (AHD) was set up in 1999 by a group of development workers, human rights and peace activists to assist the most vulnerable groups in the slums of Islamabad and Rawalpindi. Its vision is a: Society based on justice, peace, development, human respect and dignity while its mission is: To motivate and enable people to ensure their participation in development work to improve their quality of life. AHD focuses on Community Organization and Development, Women’s Empowerment, AIDS and Health Awareness, Environment and Emergency. Interfaith/social harmony is the cross cutting theme that AHD is committed to facilitate its development work and lead to empowerment. AHD has worked so far with Christian Study Center Rawalpindi, UNICEF, Catholic Relief Services (CRS) and Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany since June 1999. An autonomous Board of Governors (BoG) consisting of seven members heads the organization. The organization has six staff members working full time on its projects and activities. The organization draws its membership mainly from slums to involve targeted groups in our developmental activities. AHD has established direct working relationship with the people living in the slums and low-income communities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi. We believe on partnership with communities to raise up their potential through awareness raising, mobilization and training. AHD is registered under Registration of Societies Act XXI of 1860. The office of AHD is located in Islamabad.

Our all programs are for youth. The members are youth. The staff members are youth. The target group is youth.
