CLUB ACTIVITIES:
During the past years, the members have made large efforts in organizing several charity programs that made the Help Club one of the most well-known clubs all over the campus through its activities and services. The coming sections will briefly present some of the main activities that the club has been involved in during the previous period.
CHARITY ACTIVITIES:
Ramadan, the holy month of mercy, love, and good deeds is the time when all the people tend to practice charity and wellness. It is the time when all the community service clubs can work for the sake of relieving the pain, the sadness, the loneliness, and the illness.
Rahman Delivery, a periodical activity of the Help Club in Ramadan, gets the students involved in volunteering to fill up 2000 boxes with snacks and distributing them to people in streets and hospitals before breaking their fast. Ramadan Tamween Package, another activity of the this holy month, served the same theme, and aimed at providing needy families with basic food supplies during the holy month. With the help of many AUCians, the club was able to distribute around 1500 packages each including aroung 15kgs. of a variety of supplies (e.g. rice, dates, oil, sugar, flour, etc..).
AWARENESS ACTIVITIES:
SAVE PALESTINE:
This is one of the largest and the most important awareness campaigns ever organized by a community service club in the AUC. It was organized several times since the beginning of the Intifada. The event aimed at spreading awareness about the Palestinian cause and collecting donations from the AUC community as a whole. Posters and T-shirts were printed, banners were hanged, and photo exhibitions were organized in the two campuses. The club was able to collect a considerable amount of money to be transferred by the Red Crescent.
GLOBAL INJUSTICE:
As part of this world, we are responsible for the injustice happening around us. The aim of this campaign was raising awareness about the injustice taking place in our world and what could be our role as students. There were two Global Injustice campaigns; the first was about the Palestinian cause, and the second tackled the Iraqi cause.
MOVE TO IMPROVE:
Any change in our world will not take place unless we start with the change in ourselves. This was the theme of the awareness campaign, Move to Improve, which tackled four main topics: How to set one's goal, time management, getting over one's frustrationb from the outer world, and increasing self confidence.
THE ANNUAL RECEPTION:
This is on eof the most special events in the club. The Annual Reception is a ceremony, usually attended by an audience exceeding 700, including parents and outsiders, that aims at introducing the club to the AUC community, especially the newcomers, and motivating them towards charity and community service activities. The usual program for the reception starts with introducing the club, its history, and its activities. This is followed by a word given by a distinguished guest-speaker about the value of chatiry activities. Then comes an entertainment part that includes funny theatrical sketches, contests, etc. Receptions provide a good opportunity for interaction between the club and the students, which plays an important role in the awareness process of the club.
