The program is designed to give health care professionals and students a secure setting where they can improve or perfect their Spanish language skills as well as teach them techniques to better interact with Latino patients.

The HASP staff will find doctors and other Honduran healthcare workers willing to supervise the candidates and coordinate their time with those who choose to participate in the HASP programs. While with them you will work in various healthcare areas.

The times and types of Spanish lessons will depend on the participant's entry level Spanish language skills. Clinical supervision will be based on the participant's needs and desires and can be customized for each participant.

The HASP program accepts (for free distribution to needy patients) donated medicines and medical supplies. Every participant is asked to bring with them as personal baggage medicines and medical equipment and supplies when they register with the HASP program. HASP can send you a list of medicines and supplies currently needed.

• Introduced to medical professionals in La Ceiba
• Given the opportunity to learn or improve their Spanish
• Taught techniques to interact with Latino patients
• Given the time to explore the beauty of the North Coast and the Bay Islands of Honduras

HASP La Ceiba will coordinate the student's: application process; travel itinerary; housing and food; the time with various doctors and other professionals; Spanish courses; after work and weekend activities; and tourist activities.
