Springboard is a charitable organization committed to making our community a safer place in which to live by designing and providing services and programs that encourage law-abiding behaviour.
Springboard's committment extends to all areas of the Criminal Justice System, including the prevention of crime. We believe that in certain cases institutionalization is necessary but that crime prevention and correction of criminal behaviour most effectively takes place in an involved community.
Fulfillment of this commitment requires:
* Design and provision of services and programs that effectively reintegrate offenders into the community as responsible individuals
* The development of crime prevention strategies that foster respect for the law and which are directed at those most in need
* Community involvement in the design and provision of services along with continuous effort to encourage understanding and support for our work
* Bringing forward recommendations that will improve the effectiveness of the Criminal Justice System

Community Development: Initiatives that engage citizens in our programs and enhance community partnerships for crime prevention and reduction.
Advocacy: Undertakings to promote and substantiate the value of community programs for public safety, including research partnerships.

Comments/opinions of our programs are very much welcomed (see our web page: www.operationspringboard.on.ca).
Two programs I coordinate:
Youth/young adults (ex-offenders) are welcomed to make a difference to other youth. CHOICES...STRAIGHT UP is presented to youth in the community to discuss the choices (s)he made and how it impacted on many people.
CHOICES FOR POSITIVE YOUTH RELATIONSHIPS is a nine-week series, discussing (un)healthy relationships, scenarios and "what to do or how to get yourself out of" abusive, harrassment, bullying situations. As well, how to assist friends in potentially dangerous situations.
We would appreciate stories people may have about difficult relationships(boy/girlfriend, teacher, parent, gang, etc.) and how they handled them. As well, your thoughts on the new Y.C.J.A. (Youth Criminal Justice Act).
