The late Henry Jee, a local pastor, founded the Asian American Resource Center and oversaw its incorporation as a tax-exempt 501(c) (3) organization in 1997. His concern and compassion for Asians immigrating to the Atlanta area inspired him to commit his life savings to the organization prior to his death in 2002. His wife, Connie Jee, now leads the Center as its Executive Director. The organization continues to expand its services to meet the increasing demand posed by explosive growth of immigrant populations in the Atlanta metro area.

- Providing Transitional Housing, Rent and Utility Assistance, and a Food Voucher program

The Purpose of the AARC is to strengthen the Asian American community by:
- Providing emergency assistance to the poor, elderly, and those with disabling or handicapped conditions
- Providing Transitional Housing, Rent and Utility Assistance, and a Food Voucher program
- Promoting and teaching English Literacy and Civics to non-English speaking adults
- Guiding Youth to become productive citizens through small group counseling and self-esteem workshops
- Strengthening families through cultural enrichment programs and events
- Forming community coalitions with other non-profits and public or private sectors to address local issues such as employment job training, and social advocacy
