Youth Visioning seeks to empower young people in Small Island Developing States (SIDS) to take action for sustainable living and development, and by doing so encourage locally-based development of new skills and opportunities.
The principles underpinning the concept of Youth Visioning are:
Youth led: Young people are driven into leadership roles in every stage of project implementation - from the origination of the project idea, the submission of a proposal, the implementation, monitoring and the final reporting.
Youth for Youth: Upon taking up a leadership role, youth leaders are expected to share their skills and knowledge with other young people and involve them in the implementation of the project, thus building their capacity. The activities of their project must benefit other young people in their community and beyond.
Grassroots: Youth Visioning aims to work with grassroots organisations that often lack the necessary training and resources to implement their own projects or do not have the accessibility to compete with regional or national organisations. Not to mention that the activities themselves and their impacts are also felt at the grassroots level, including the wider community.
