Community Empowerment Organisation is one of the leading humanitarian organisations, providing assistance without discrimination as to nationality, race, religious beliefs, class or political opinions.

The Organisation’s mission is to empower the lives of vulnerable people by mobilizing, sensitising, support and disseminating adequate information to better the lots of the masses. Vulnerable people are those who are at greatest risk from situations that threaten their survival or their capacity to live with an acceptable level of social and economic security and human dignity often, these are victims of natural disasters, poverty brought about by economic crises, refugees, and victims of health emergencies.

Founded in 2003, the organisation comprises of 20 members, a National Secretariat in Lagos - Nigeria and more than 6 zonal offices strategically located to support activities. There are more field offices in formation.

Community Empowerment Organisation believes to work together with other NGO’s with common ideology to find lasting solutions to problems. Too many people die as a result of access to even the most basic health services and elementary health education, community care and basic education. These are areas that interest the organisation.

Guiding, training and supporting the development of its members is one of the Organisation’s fundamental tasks, and runs through these two core areas and other programmes. Capacity building programmes include management and volunteer training, branch structures, planning, fund-raising and gender equality. Creating the opportunity for national societies to network and work together is one of the Organisation’s key roles.

The organisation has embarked on a consistent and inspirational approach to promoting humanitarian values. The aim is to influence the behavior of the people we work with through a better understanding of fundamental principles and humanitarian value. The three main target groups are those working within Community Empowerment Organisation and members of the communities where we work, the public and private authorities.

There are lots of opportunities for youths both in terms of training on humanitarian duties/functions, personal self development in the area of ICT, Fund Raising for projects, Project Monitoring, and Project Planning etc.

a. Membership of C.E.O is open to every individual of the world ranging from continent to continent.

b. Every intending member shall obtain and complete a membership form and return same to the C.E.O. secretariat or zonal office.

c. Every intending member must be involved in promoting knowledge, information and activities that will help boost and encourage research in the field of human rights, sustainable development and information management.

d. Every intending member must share knowledge on development issues.

e. Every intending member must be prepared to be an active participant that commits time, energy and resources to the evolution and development of the theme of the C.E.O. and its activities.
