1.VOLUNTEER:
Volunteerism may be defined as contributing one's time or talents for charitable, educational, social, political, or other worthwhile purposes, usually in one's community, freely and without regard for compensation. Youth volunteerism is one of the main focused programs of Alternatives. If you want to share your knowledge, skills and experiences with the young people of rural areas of Nepal then you can be the part of our organization by contributing your knowledge, skills and experiences to the society. There are various opportunities for volunteering with Alternatives. The volunteering opportunities are open to both Nepalese youths and to International Volunteers who might be interested to work in the youth issues and youth entrepreneurship development in Nepal.
2. INTERN
Alternatives offers opportunities to young people to work as Intern for short-term period of 1 month to 3 months. If you are 16-29 years old; energetic and have positive attitude and want to develop your professional skills to be prepared for the upcoming career in your life, Youth Initiative could be an incubator to realize your potential. As an Intern, you will be helping out with the daily operation of the office; assist in organising programs (Youth Entrepreneurship Development Programs, seminars, Workshops, etc); managing the Youth Resource Center and helping with documentation. Apart from these you will have enough space to identify your own roles and foster your ideas to bring them into actions. If you are interested in Youth Initiative Internship send an email to alternativesnepal@yahoo.com along with your C.V. and other details.
3. YOUTH SKILL EXCHANGE PROGRAM
Youth Skill Exchange Program targets specifically at-risk and marginalized youth of rural areas, dealing with a wide range of specific issues, such as vulnerability to HIV/AIDS, drug dependency, teenage pregnancy. Youth in rural areas are more restricted than their urban peers in terms of access to and choice of education, training and employment opportunities. This program attempt to achieve their aims within a holistic framework of self-empowerment or self-reliance, and they usually build on a livelihoods approach as well as training for self-employment or enterprise creation.
