International Youth Business Mentoring Program:
Economic development and personal fulfillment are an integral part of our vision. Developing and guiding the growth of youth entrepreneurial skills are paramount to us. Rather than give fish to our young people, we will teach them how to fish. We strongly rely on the creativity of young people by guiding them to explore their communities in order to build viable economic enterprises. We strongly encourage capitalizing on members’ diverse talents to mold youthful dynamism, activism and entrepreneurship by launching creative businesses from the youth pool of labor. Through a system of rigorous workshops and an open mind, we strive to transform static communities into vibrant economic entities with a combination of local and global marketing through our varied websites, www.africanartville.org and www.sierraleonetravels.com.
African Artville and Sierra Leone Travels:
These are the official Internet sites for the 21st Century African Youth Movement. Through African Artville, we market young and emerging artists, art organizations in Africa to a global market. The goal is to bring economic prosperity to individual artists and art organizations by marketing their products online and helping them to build an international clientele. We promote African artists through their various national departments and support them to stay and produce art within their communities. We also transform original artworks into limited posters, postcards and wearable art. From time to time, we sponsor art competitions, encouraging the spreading and sharing of ideas among artists. We strongly encourage and support building a link between African art and art of the African Diaspora.
Sierra Leone Travels is where one finds all there is to know about our Sierra Leone/Mattru Jong Project.
Sierra Leone (Mattru Jong) Project:
We currently have several youth contacts across Africa and the African Diaspora. Our most vibrant chapter is in Sierra Leone, headed by Fatmata Roselyn Sesay. In February 2003, our office will be available in Freetown with three integrated businesses.
For the future of our programs, we have to build viable economic communities. We are in the process of acquiring about forty acres of scenic land in Mattru Jong for training youth in various skills and, also establishing a resort for our International Learning and Sharing Center. We are currently working with 47 family members of Moselle Village to survey and negotiate the terms of purchase for the land. To receive a video of this scenic land, please send a $20.00 donation to the 21st Century African Youth Movement.
We successfully launched our first annual “Artists’ Participation and Appreciation Gala” event at the Sierra Leone National Stadium Swimming Pool on Saturday, January 11, 2003. This event will be repeated on the second Saturday of every year. A video of the event is available for a $10.00 or more donations to the 21st Century African Youth Movement.
