“To instill an understanding of the global community and challenges facing it in a way that fosters Africa-optimism especially among African youth.”
PREAMBLE
WHEREAS THE PEOPLES OF THE UNITED NATIONS, THROUGH THEIR
GOVERNMENTS HAVE DECLARED THAT THEY ARE DETERMINED:
• to save succeeding generations from the scourge of war, which twice in our life time have brought untold sorrow to all peoples, and
• to reaffirm faith in fundamental human rights, in the dignity and worth of the human person, in the equal rights of men and women and of nations large and small, and
• to establish conditions under which justice and respect for the obligations arising from treaties and other sources of international law can be maintained, and
• to promote social progress and better standards of life in larger freedom,
AND FOR THESE ENDS
• to practice tolerance and live together in peace with one another as good neighbors, and
• to unite our strength to maintain international peace and security, and
• to ensure, by the acceptance of principles and the institution of methods, that armed force shall not be used, save in the common interest, and
• to employ international machinery for the promotion of the economic and social advancement of all peoples,
And whereas their Governments, to accomplish these aims, have agreed to the Charter of the United Nations and thereby have established the international organization known as the United Nations
WE THE MEMBERS OF KENYA MODEL UNITED NATIONS,
INSPIRED by this Charter of the United Nations;
CONSIDERING the vast ingenuity, skill and talent incumbent upon the youth and the possibility of solving most of societal differences by harnessing these virtues;
RESOLVE to take all measures aimed at strengthening our common goals and provide the youth with the necessary powers and resources to enable them discharge their societal mandates effectively; hereby collectively, through our representatives assembled at Ol Karia, establish an organization to be known as The Kenya Model United Nations (KMUN).

Kenya Model United Nations (KMUN) is a society that aims to simulate the activities of the United Nations among University students (it members) and Friends of KMUN (Alumni and interested persons).
KMUN aims to work with like minded organizations to bring out an understanding of international policy making bodies, governments, inter-country relations and the place of the common man in all this. All these are achieved from a UN perspective.
A common question in KMUN is,
" Are all countries equal or are some more equal than others? "
The objectives and functions of KMUN are:
(a) simulate the United Nations’ organizational structure and systems
(b) educate the youth regarding the United Nations in order to raise awareness on its character and work
(c) Gain more support for the spirit of the United Nations among the Kenyan youth
(d) Give expression to the views of its members concerning the United Nations activities
(e) Cultivate diplomacy, public speaking, research and debating skills among members
(f) Promote conflict resolution
(g) Strive for the recognition and respect of human rights and fundamental freedoms that affect young people
(h) Work with other organizations with similar objectives and functions
(i) Do everything towards the realization of the above aims and objectives
Our goals this year are :
1. To instill self-drive and the desire to improve oneself in each of our members.
2. Develop an understanding of Global issues and inter-country relations through thorough preparation and participation in the Kenya Model United Nations.
3. To initiate an annual alumni cocktail/Dinner.
4. Have a 1000 member strong KMUN body that is as strong as other MUN groups and bonded through functioning information and socializing network.
5. To develop a consistent and self-sustaining way of raising money for the club.
6. To develop a culture of mentor ship, growth and development through our networks of KMUN members, Alumni and partners.
7. Attend other conferences and invite neighboring countries to our conferences.
8. To carry out at least three community service projects this year.
The organization is able to carry out its aims by working with the UNITED NATIONS INFORMATION CENTER at UNON, Gigiri and with other universities (Chapters of KMUN)
