We believe that youth learn best from role models whom they admire and when they are active in the learning process. Classes are led by professional soccer players and other powerful role models.

What does the organization do?
GRS strives to reduce stigma, fuel open dialogue about HIV/AIDS, and prevent new HIV infections by arming adolescents with the knowledge, social support, and life-skills they need to live HIV-free. Working with the CDC, AIDS experts, educational consultants, and local leaders, GRS has developed...

GRS strives to reduce stigma, fuel open dialogue about HIV/AIDS, and prevent new HIV infections by arming adolescents with the knowledge, social support, and life-skills they need to live HIV-free. Working with the CDC, AIDS experts, educational consultants, and local leaders, GRS has developed an innovative, activities-based HIV prevention and life skills curriculum. Numerous independent evaluations have found that the GRS model significantly improves HIV-related knowledge, attitudes, and communication, while increasing perceptions of social support and reducing stigma/discrimination.

Young people all around the world are hosting Lose The Shoes charity barefoot soccer tournaments to support Grassroot Soccer's work in sub-Saharan Africa. Since the idea's inception in October 2006, over 40 tournaments have been run raising $50,000 to fight AIDS. All the tools needed to run a tournament can be downloaded at http://kickaids.org. Lose the Shoes is all about young people helping young people around the world.
GRS also accepts 9-month Field Interns to work alongside our operations in Africa.
