Akron International Friendship (AIF) is a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization that links local and international communities by building networks and friendships to promote understanding and world harmony. Akron International Friendship sponsors international exchanges through the U.S. Department of State International Visitor Leadership Program, the Open World Leadership Program and other agencies. AIF has been hosting visitors through the International Visitor Leadership Program since 1977 and through the Open Word Leadership Program since its inception in 1999. AIF also has a number of community service programs involving international students who are enrolled at the University of Akron. We serve the local community by providing international and cultural outreach programs through our local schools.

AIFs programs strengthen academic, corporate, organizational, and personal ties between Northeast Ohio and the World. We highlight the many strong resources of Akron and northeast Ohio. We create a positive view of Americans and help to eliminate negative stereotypes and create understanding of others cultures, situations, and beliefs.
