Durgapur Sub Divisional Sports & Cultural Clubs Co-Ordination Society - a non-government organization - founded in 2001.
Our mission statement is very simple and straightforward....
"To enable Youth to maximize their potential, increase their abilities and to enhance human dignity by providing quality services within available resources"
The areas in which programs and activities are designed with our mission in mind are as follows:-
1. General
o Promotion of Unity and International peace and amity;
o To channelise Youth energy in Character building activities.
o To develop consciousness among youth against Social evils like untouchables, communal and Provincial distinction, superstition, liquor consumption, gambling, drug abuses etc.
o To develop youth sense of pride in nationally accepted values like Patriotism, Democracy, Socialism, Secularism, & Self-reliance.
o To organise the programme enabling the youth to receive education & knowledge about Indian Culture, Freedom Struggle, Constitution of India.
o Projecting and recognizing the activities & contributions made by youth in various fields of National Development so that the youth get inspiration to choose from among various options to enrich its intellectual resources.
o To observe the Birthdays of person of National and International fame, Independence day, Republic day & other National as well as International Day Of Importance - in order to uplift the morality of the Students &Youth.
2 Responding to Youth concerns:
• To organise the programme enabling the youth to participate in the Social welfare programes & Family welfare programme.
• To organise & provide opportunities to the youth for participation in community development Works through developmental schemes.
• To help aged sick & helpless persons.
• Organising the Blood Group Detection Camps & Blood Donation Camps
• To promote the publishing of literatures, journals, books, papers, magazines.
3 Youth Camp & Training Programme –
• Organising Youth Camps for promoting the spirit of National Integration, Spirit of Secularism, Unity in Diversity, pride in Indian ness, Sense of Communal Harmony.
• Organize the programmes including training, conducting survey, holding seminar, Symposium, Exhibitions, Executions, Cultural activities.
• Organizing Vocational Training Programme towards Self-Employment & better employment
4 Organising Awareness Generation campaigns and Programmes On Various Important Issues.
5 Recognition -
• To honor the persons of sports & culture to enhance their general status in the society.
• To motivate the persons of sports & culture to give their highest performance in sports &cultural events.
6. Sharing of Experience :-Through consultation, workshops, seminars.

DURGAPUR SUB – DIVISIONAL SPORTS & CULTURAL CLUBS CO-ORDINATION SOCIETY is an accredited social organization, functioning for the last 5 years and has now gained the confidence of general people of Durgapur as well as citizens of entire Durgapur Sub-Division. Established in 2001 by 9 dedicated activists, the Society today has expanded to a fraternity of over 55 Clubs, organisers, motivators, associates, and 300 members from all walks of life.
The well-to-do citizens like Doctors, Professors, Teachers, Executives of Govt. & corporate. Offices, Advocates, Chartered personnel’s, Social workers are our members. Every body, out of his personal works, joins with the day-to-day works of the association. In fact, our association having a well-equipped team of competent, dedicated and experienced Honorary social workers.
DSSCCS's many achievements during the years are due to our partners in development, and to the people who make up DSSCCS. Our committed members everywhere, the volunteers who give so much of their time and the donors who are generous enough to make all into effective action.
DSSCCS is justified by the impact it makes. Our aim is to maximize the quality and effectiveness of our work.
There is always room for improvement in DSSCCS's work and there is always scope for innovation. DSSCCS believes that social problems can be tackled best through the concerted efforts on the part of the people themselves, it works in partnership with local communities.
We are actively associated with various works undertaken by Department of Youth, Sports, Health & Social Welfare –Govt. of West Bengal and District Administration. Throughout the year we organise various Sports & cultural activities in Durgapur Sub Division in collaboration with many Clubs, voluntary organizations & NGO’s.
Office: The DSCC operates a small evening office at Bidhannagar Residents’ Association that is open on all days except Sundays. It coordinates all activities and monitors on going projects.
Status: The DSCC registered under the Societies Act, 1961. We are recognised by the Government bodies for our expertise in youth motivation programmes. We are associated with the International Youth Organisation - WORLD YOUTH MOVEMENT FOR DEMOCRACY.
Management: The general members of the Society elect the Executive Committee and office bearers for a two year term. The Executive Committee formulates; policies, and monitors, coordinate and evaluate all activities. All DSSCCS affiliates & units are independently registered with the State Govt. / Nehru Juba Kendra /other sports & cultural organisation.

Community Development: DSSCCS is involved in community development programmes aimed at helping men and women to form Self Help Groups, increase female literacy, develop micro enterprise programmes, organize gender sensitization and income generation projects in order to lead a healthier and happier life.

We fully understand that we can't rely on our past accomplishments and laurels, as a tremendous amount of work needs yet to be done at the grass root level.
While we appreciate the accomplishments listed below, what really motivates and inspires us each day is the knowledge that through our efforts someone's life is going to be touched positively and that inner satisfaction can't be replaced by any other form of reward. We firmly believe that it is this internal satisfaction that is driving us to work against all odds.
Some Of our Major Achievements
1. DSSCCS placed a concrete proposal to the Union Government of India in designing 'The Youth Policy' of our country.
2. DSSCCS believes in community mobilization and community participation. It, therefore, launched a massive signature campaign in 2006 for lobbying with the Government to strengthen legislation for drug trafficking and drug abuse effectively.
3. DSSCCS has also raised questions and concerns on human rights issues. DSSCCS is advocating human rights through meetings and seminars, motivating the members of parliament, policy makers and functionaries of government and mobilizing the support of other NGO’s. DSSCCS willing to develop documentation center for the use of the people.
4. Science Model Exhibition on Rajib Gandhi Akshay Urja Diwas:
To popularise the adoption of Renewable sources of energy DSSCCS organises Rajib Gandhi Akshay Urja Diwas on 20th August for the last three years. Extempore speech, Debate, Sit & Draw Competition & Science Model Exhibition are the especial events.
DSSCCS tries technological up gradation to the needy people to the extent possible by this Science Exhibition. The idea is to make rural youth aware of the latest technological breakthrough in their respective areas.
5. Motivation on self employment for the youth :-
Towards the neat execution of “Atma Samman and Atmamariyada” projects of the Government of West Bengal amongst the unemployed youth in view of self-employment the DSCC has taken initiative from August 2002. Eager and competent persons are regressed to come in close with the DSSCCS.
6. School Programs:
School program is essentially an awareness program on blood donation, drug abuse prevention through talks, audio-visual aids; role-play, quiz and interactive question answer sessions.
8. Save the Green Save the Earth:
Massive forestation Programme has taken during 2005-06. Durgapur Social Forestry extended their full support to this programme.We have organised 5 nos Environment Camps starting from 22nd February06- National Science Day to 5th June2006 – World Environment Day.
DSSCCS willing to organize National Youth Exchange Programme (NYEP) in collaboration with Department of Youth Affairs – Government of India.
Participants will be selected from different parts of the country. The exchange program will be of 10 days duration. It will be a lifetime experience for the participants.
Objectives of YEP :
• Preparing youth for adaptability, self-knowledge, time/stress/conflict management, and a sense of responsibility, accountability, organisation, teamwork and an opportunity to learn one or more languages.
• To create among participants from Canada and India an increased awareness, understanding and appreciation of the socio-economic and cultural realities of international society.
• To foster among young participants a greater understanding as a basis for meaningful collaboration in local and international development.
• To foster among participants the understanding that they are members of an interdependent world.
• To provide participants with unique and hands-on learning opportunities.
• To promote intercultural understanding and mutual respect.
