MISSION
Advocating for and Enhancing Children’s and Youth’s Participation and Empowering them to be Masters of their own Destinies and of the Future of Zambia.
Strategic Objectives
1. To advocate for children’s and youth’s rights and participation in governance processes, political processes, policy processes and other decision-making
mechanisms and events which impact on the future of Zambia and the world at large.
2. To ensure that government, foreign agencies and other stakeholders, such as NGOs in the development sector, deliver children-and-youth-friendly services that recognize their special needs hence leading to optimal benefit for this constituency.
3. To provide eRiding services to other non-profit organisations to help them deliver their work better and to give consultancy to businesses to raise resources for the organisation.
4. To promote the use of Information and Communication Technologies in their various forms within the non-profit sector as a way of increasing productivity, of scaling up and effectively delivering quality programmes, projects and office work.
5. To source, generate, collate, repackage and disseminate information and knowledge tools on pressing and vital issues for the consumption of children and youth who may not have the wherewithal to access the same on their own.
6. To formulate, implement, monitor and evaluate demand-driven, viable, participatory and sustainable projects to help solve some of the nudging problems
children and youth face in society today especially in rural areas and shanty towns of Zambia.
7. To organise and administer training, research, meetings and repacking of information on leadership, administration and other skills that build the competence, confidence and gullibility of children and youth in Zambia and to give them the ability to participate effectively.
8. To work with other organisations and networks in Zambia and abroad, with similar and/or complementary objectives so as to cultivate a culture of cooperation and
cost-effectiveness whilst pursuing the sustainable development of Zambia and the world at large.
Organisational Values
RMZ believes in:
1. Being a non-partisan organisation and shall not take part in any party politics.
2. Being gender sensitive and hence engendering all our programmes and projects.
3. Being religious neutral and tolerant.
4. Volunteerism and Service to others as a form of sustainable development.
5. The power of ICTs enabling people to do things better and faster and so RMZ shall strive to understand the potential value of the ICTs, integrate them into its
programmatic work, and enhance the ICT component of its management.
6. The potential of Free/Libre Open Source Software (FLOSS) to empower organisations and individuals in the developing world.
7. HIV/AIDS being a cross-cutting Issue that affects all of RMZ’s programmes and projects; HIV/AIDS will be a priority for RMZ for the next five years (All RMZ
activities shall be informed and guided by the RMZ Strategy on HIV/AIDS’).
8. Not being Xenophobic and not segregating against individuals and organisations based on race, sexual orientation, credo or ethnic orientation.
9. An inclusive society that sees children and youth as partners and not mere participants and dependents; subsidiarity principle being a way to empower the
