 Misión/Visión
The Decade to Overcome Violence: Churches Seeking Reconciliation and Peace 2001 – 2010 (DOV) is an initiative of the World Council of Churches. It is a global movement that strives to promote efforts and networks for preventing and overcoming violence.

The DOV highlights and networks efforts by churches, ecumenical organizations, and civil society movements to overcome different types of violence. It seeks to establish points of contact with the relevant aims, programs, and initiatives within the United Nations Decade for a Culture of Peace and Nonviolence for the Children of the World (2001-2010). The DOV builds awareness and promotes networking around violence prevention and active non-violence. Projects include "Living Letters" team visits, expert consultations and a consultative process towards an ecumenical declaration on just peace, to be adopted by the International Ecumenical Peace Convocation in Kingston, Jamaica, May 2011.
