The Kinex Youth Initiative is a division of the Self-Help Resource Association of BC. The Self Help Resource Association of BC is an umbrella organization that provides support and resources to individuals, service agencies, professionals, and others involved in the self-help/peer support community.
The Kinex Youth Initiative envisions communities where young people:
* are valued as people with diverse opinions and lived experiences
* have a voice in decision-making that effects their lives
* are recognized for their contributions
* and feel like they’re an important part of their community(s)

What does the organization do?
The Kinex Youth Initiative of SHRA works to increase and promote the well-being and capacity of young people in BC; and to raise the voice of youth within the BC communities. Using youth-driven teams, we work for social and systemic change through peer support approaches.
Opportunities for Youth
Offers workshops on peer support circles, group dynamics, and facilitation. Also works with diverse groups of young people to create action projects on issues affecting their lives.

Create youth peer support and action projects (in cooperation with diverse groups across Vancouver)– to help young people support each other, get their voices heard and/or make change around specific issues in their communities
Advocate for youth to have a say in decision-making that effect them – we stay aware of issues facing young people in BC, and get involved wherever possible to promote meaningful youth-engagement, i.e. with organizations, services, government reps and planning groups that effect young people’s lives
