Canada can be a place where active citizenship and bold, globally-oriented thinking make our country a dynamic, inclusive and prosperous country that people from around the world are proud to call home. Leveraging the creativity of our citizens has been an essential element of Canada’s historical success. Think of Medicare, think of the Canadarm, think of Trivial Pursuit. This ingenuity must continue to play a fundamental role in the creation of the Canadian culture of innovation needed to tackle the important challenges of the next generation. By creating opportunities for young Canadians to use history to enhance their understanding of current problems we will help ensure that each new generation is well positioned to tackle our nation’s challenges and help guide Canada’s future.

Canada25 was started in 2000 by six young Canadians who each had a passion for Canadian public life. They formed Canada25 with a mission to bring the voices and ideas of Canadians, aged 20-35, to our nation’s public policy discourse and take action on issues of local and national significance.

1.Develop and articulate policy proposals on issues of local and national significance to Canadians

2.Implement a select number of local and national initiatives developed through Canada25’s public policy deliberations

3.Act as a resource for government, business and community leaders wishing to engage the perspectives and talents of young Canadians with a keen interest in public affairs

4.Build an international network of people who share an interest in public affairs and civic engagement in Canada

5. Provide exciting opportunities for young Canadians to build policy analysis and civic leadership skills
