The Saskatchewan Council for International Cooperation is a coalition of 30 international development NGOs active in Asia, Africa and South America. SCIC's constituency includes many people with diverse international work experience. Members manage projects in the fields of agriculture, community development, health, education and training and environmental protection. Most of these projects are supported with matched funding from the Province of Saskatchewan and the Government of Canada through the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA). During the 20 plus years since SCIC was formed, such projects have represented an investment of more than $50 million locally and overseas by Saskatchewan NGOs and the Saskatchewan Government.

Linking this international expertise with business and government is the one aim of Global Connections Unlimited, a project of SCIC. A 1996 Study by SCIC among businesses in the province found significant interest for such a project as companies and government expand their operations in the global market place.
A central focus of the project is the Global Connections Database, established in early 1997. Other services available through the project include training for staff and partners in cross-cultural awareness and diversity management, assistance in hosting trade missions and conferences and partnerships in joint ventures with organizations and companies doing business overseas.
