Pollution Probe has four major programmes and several special programme areas.
Major Programme Areas:
Air: Our air programme promotes tougher controls on urban smog, reduced acid gas emissions, improved public transit, and cleaner vehicles and fuels.
Water: Pollution Probe is re-building its water programme, following on the extensive work we have done on the Great Lakes. The initial phase of our water programme has focused on ensuring clean, safe drinking water in Ontario. We are now developing concepts, tools and partnerships to promote a new approach to water management, focusing on creating a water ethic that is global in outlook.
Energy: In our early days, Pollution Probe successfully promoted energy conservation as an alternative to unlimited expansion of energy generation capacity. Today, this work continues, notably at Ontario Energy Board hearings, where we consistently promote the '3 Es' of responsible energy use: Energy efficiency, Energy from renewables and Emission reductions from generating plants.
Indoor Environments: Pollution Probe's environmental health programme is the first initiative by a Canadian environmental organization to link the quality of the indoor environment to human health, climate change, water quality and smog.
Special Programme Areas:
Environment and Child Health Programme
Mercury
Canada’s Kyoto Commitment
Environmental Policy Development
