IIE believes that the means for creating a better world community is investing in people through international education. Since our founding in 1919, the Institute has fostered the free flow of knowledge and ideas across national boundaries, in the conviction that no nation can prosper economically, culturally, or intellectually in isolation from the rest of the world.

We pioneer programs worldwide enabling thousands of students, scholars, artists, scientists, business managers and leaders in every field to share ideas and work for common goals. Through our educational services, we inform both the academic community and the broader public about opportunities and policy issues in international education. And through the partnerships that IIE builds — with colleges and universities, corporations, foundations, government agencies and international organizations — we work to mobilize resources and ensure their wise and efficient application to international education and training.
