Orphans for Christ in Africa (OCA) is a non-sectarian, non-denominational not-for-profit Word and Deed childcare and development organisation catering for the holistic welfare of HIV/AIDS orphans, homeless and destitute children, disadvantaged youth and widows in Uganda, regardless of their gender, creed, race, colour, ethnic origin, social status, or disability.

We devotedly stand as advocates for destitute children, using God-given resources to release them from the bondage of poverty and misery, improving their physical well-being, enhancing their academic status, healthcare, granting those equal opportunities to discover, develops, exploit and realized their God-given full potential.

We house, feed, clothe, and give medical care, spiritual teaching and send to school orphans, homeless and destitute children, and disadvantaged youth – both boys and girls. We seek to care for orphaned and needy children 2-17 years, disadvantaged youth 18-24, widows and the elderly.

We also seek to provide life skills and vocational training, HIV/AIDS counseling, care and support, and assist poor widows initiate, set up and implement community based sustainable income generating projects that have potential for self sustainability. This embraces all the viable micro income generating activities women do to earn a decent living, at individual, group and/or household levels, whether they be agriculture, trade or service. Our Goal is to build both individual as well as community capacities.

We at Orphans for Christ in Africa realize that without the dedication and support of Volunteers,
we would be very unsuccessful. There are so many ways to volunteer your time to help our
organization. Please consider collecting inkind items with the help of your church, friends,
coworkers, etc., for the children here in Uganda.

You may also wish to visit Uganda for a short-term mission trip to visit the orphans and assist in
encouraging them and giving them hope.
We have volunteer ministry/work opportunities for short-term volunteer mission/work teams from churches, organizations, schools/colleges, families and individuals.

OCA provides short-term mission/work opportunities to minister to, mentor, encourage and be a blessing to African children and youth during summer holidays. OCA is looking for short-term volunteers, teams & groups to work with orphaned children and youth during summer holidays and other times in Uganda.

Volunteer work programs typically last for two weeks (but can be longer or shorter depending on need) and are scheduled during the months of June – August of every year. The OCA Africa office handles all local travel and accommodation arrangements (transport to and from the airport, hotel bookings, food, housing, ground transportation, arrangements of meetings and work schedules).

OCA facilitates volunteer trips to our Children’s Centers, schools and other sites. During these weeks, volunteers focus on assisting with building projects, holiday camps, children’s clubs, outreaches and discipleship. OCA’ Children’s Centers are located in Kajjansi near Kampala and in Tororo Town, Eastern Uganda.

In addition to weeks of work, the volunteer trips involve visits to various sites around the Country some of which include visit to the Source of the Nile River, and an opportunity to go ‘White Water Rafting’ at Bujjagali Falls, in Jijnja.
