General Eligibility Requirements
Applicant must be a Citizen or Permanent Resident of a diamond producing country in Africa.
Applicants must be at least 17 years of age and have a high school diploma or equivalency to that.
Applicants must be currently planning to enter the field.
All applicants must complete the AAJ Scholarship Application (including the Questionnaire) and submit a minimum of one letter of recommendation from a mining Minister or relevant government official. The letter of recommendation must be typed, preferably on government letterhead, and be received no later than the application deadline.
Due to the limited number of scholarships available and the highly competitive nature of the scholarships, recipients who have been awarded a JFPI or AAJ Foundation scholarship within the past five years are NOT eligible to re-apply.
The AAJ Foundation Scholarship may ONLY be applied toward the tuition for a gemology, geology or mining engineering course or program of study in which the applicant is planning to enroll in the upcoming calendar year.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Incomplete or late applications will not be considered for a scholarship.
Scholarship notification will be made by the end of January.
Scholarship applications and supporting material must be submitted between June 15th and October 15th to:
